Lord Shiva told the boy that he was her husband and can visit her anytime, however, the boy refused. After the boy kept blocking, Lord Shiva’s way, he severed the boy’s head in rage and fury. When Goddess Parvati came and saw that the boy had died, she was furious and vowed to destroy the universe. Lord Brahma came and requested her to not do so. Goddess Parvati asked for the boy to be resurrected immediately. Lord Shiva sent everyone to find a head of a creature laying north. His devotees could not find a human head but they found an elephant’s head. Hence, Lord Ganesh was resurrected with an elephant’s head.
